Well, this blog is not really alive... having two kids, family and job time flies by anyway.
After looking at a lot of bikes in the web and reading reviews, we had 5 bikes in the top list:
Christiana bikes
Kangaroo bike from Winther
trio bike
bullitt from larry vs. harry
bakfiets from workcycles
In the end we decided to go with the three wheeler Kangaroo bike, and in general we are quite satisfied.
I hope that I get down to writing the decision process in detail soon.
We have the Kangaroo one year now, there were some quirks, some hassle with Winther and the quality, but in general we think that we bought the best bike for our requirements. As these requirements are very different for each family, there is no "best" solution in general.
I personally also liked a two wheeler like the workcycles bikes, but my wife preferred the three wheelers for stability at low speeds.

How we started to chose a family bike
Well, since we moved a bit to the country side, we saw the need to transport two kids and shopping bags, grocery etc.
With a "normal" bike, one gets easily to the limits, and in Germany it is difficult to get kid seats for the bicycle in front, usually only the backseats are legal.
So, we started looking for better ways. First we looked at haulers to be attached to the bike, but we did not like the fact that the kids were behind us, and that it is more difficult to judge the width of the hauler (being behind).
After a lot of research, we looked at the following bikes more or less closely:
bakfiets, workcycles, trio bike, Winther Kangaroo, larry vs. harry bullitt, and others.
I will add comments and some photos to this blog as we advanced on the acquisition...
To make it short: We decided to take the Winther Kangaroo.
More to follow soon...
